(919) TAMPA BAY RAYS
(920) NEW YORK YANKEES
Take "Under"

Tampa Bay's offense is much more productive at home and they suffered a tough blow this week as third baseman Evan Longoria has a sore left hamstring. Longoria, who leads the AL in voting for this year's All-Star game, was hurt running out a grounder this week. He underwent tests that included an MRI exam. The Yankees have seen hard throwing Tampa Bay lefty David Price before -- last season, when he fanned 4 in 5 innings with no walks, and a 3.38 ERA. The kid is even better this season, with 17 Ks in 9 innings! C.C. Sabathia is in a groove, throwing great, and doesn't walk anyone. Look for a rare pitcher's duel in the new Yankee Stadium, play the Rays/Yankees under the total.

Scott Delaney Friday ... 100 DIME ST. LOUIS CARDINALS RUN LINE (WITH Wainwright and De La Rosa) - Colorado was a huge underdog winner last night, snapping a four-game skid with a 10-3 shellacking of the Astros. Back to the losing, as this team has still lost seven of its last 10. And now it takes on a pitcher that has a strong 2.70 ERA at Busch Stadium, and who has pitched quite well over his last five starts.

Though he’s posted a 2-2 mark in those games, thrice he’s given up just one earned run, while he’s lasted a minimum of six innings in them all. In fact, his durable has been a strong point for the Cardinals, as he’s lasted at least six frames – the minimum to earn a quality start – in nine straight starts. He’s taken on the Cubbies three times, Milwaukee twice and the Phillies once, so he’s seen some decent lineups.

The Rockies are a far cry from those teams, despite hosting games in hitter-friendly Coors Field, as they rank 24th in the league in hitting – 11th in the National League. And I don’t see them standing a chance against St. Louis’ tall right-hander who pitches downhill with a running fastball that reaches 93 miles per hour and a nasty curveball he can change the break on with ease. He has great command of his pitches, and pitches with more confidence when it comes to his off-speed junk.

Sorry, but this is a major pitching mismatch, as Colorado’s Jorge De La Rosa is 0-6 this season with a 5.43 ERA. His biggest problem is handling in-game adversity. And in having to pitch inside Busch, against a potent lineup, I think he’ll make one too many mistakes tonight. Lay the Run Line.

IC FRIDAY'S COMP PLAY (7 of 8 Winners):

We keep doing well with comps. Let's keep trucking. Take Over 9 between Cleveland Indians @ Chicago Whitesox (Friday @ 8:10pm). The last time Pavano faced the Whitesox he gave up 10 hits in 6 innings and gave up 4 runs en route to an Indians 9-4 win. Props. But, the Whitesox are one of the best at making adjustments as their hitters are the same ones that picked up 3 runs on Greinke that up to then no team was really able to do. Pavano has had several quality starts of late and I believe he is likely in for a let down on the road. Also, keep in mind that Danks has defeated the Indians as well too so both set of hitters are looking for revenge against the other respective pitcher. I look for both offenses to likely have success today as whenever it is a round 2, the pitcher or a batting lineup - whoever lost the time before, has a sense of revenge the next time around. After all, that is what has helped cash at least 4 plays during this 7 of 8 comp play run. It is a simple philosophy but has great value to it. The over is 8-2 for the Indians as an Underdog of +100 to +150 and the over is 4-0 in Danks's last 4 starts. gl,

Trace Adams 1000* - Oakland w/Braden over Guthrie, 500* - Texas w/Millwood over Penny The A's have to be feeling good as they come back home from the Windy City, fresh off a sweep of the Pale Hose, as Oakland has now won 4 of their last 5, and will be hosting a Baltimore team that is a putrid 8-17 away from Camden Yards.

Lay the small home wood with Dallas Braden, as the southpaw looks to even his season mark at 5-5. Braden is 1-0 over his last 3 starts, and all 3 have been "quality", so you can expect him to hold the Baltimore bats in check in this one.

Jeremy Guthrie has struggled on the road this season, going just 1-2 with an ERA of 6.57. Then there is the fact that the A's won ALL 5 off the O's just a season ago.

Have to back Oakland in the opener this evening at the Coliseum.

1000♦ - Oakland w/Braden over Guthrie

♦♦Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or no action on the play!♦♦

Let's grab the take back cash with Kevin Millwood over Brad Penny tonight at Fenway.

No doubt the Red Sox are tough at home - 17-6 at Fenway, and no doubt Brad Penny does somehow sport a 5-1 record this season, but Penny's ERA is 5.63 this season, and at home it is over 6!

Texas just dropped 2 of 3 to the Yankees, and will be in a prickly mood tonight when they step in against the hitable Brad Penny.

Look for the Rangers to outslug the Sox in their home park tonight.

Kevin Millwood's season ERA is just a tick over 3, so I expect him to limit the damage the Red Sox can inflict, and let his team's bats take over against Penny.

Texas plus money is the call here.

500♦ - Texas w/Penny over Millwood

♦♦Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or no action on the play!♦♦
